20191016 SafeSkies Chris McKie

New board member for Safeskies

‘I am delighted to announce that Chris McKie, a senior aviation safety leader, has joined the Safeskies board,’ the Chairman of Safeskies Australia, Captain Peter Raven AM, said today. ‘Chris brings a wealth of commercial aviation experience to the board, having held a number of senior safety leadership roles in the industry. His experience complements the diverse skills of current board members, enabling Safeskies to deliver relevant and tailored safety education events even more effectively’, Raven said.

Chris McKie was appointed Virgin Australia’s General Manager, Safety Systems and Operations Support in late April 2020. Before taking up the role with Virgin, he was Head of Safety and Security at Tigerair and also had five years with Cobham Aviation Services in senior safety roles, the last three years as the Senior Vice President, Safety, Risk and Environment.

‘I am looking forward to playing a part in driving Safeskies’ future success as it meets the challenges of promoting aviation safety in these trying times’, McKie said.

As a trusted and independent organisation promoting aviation safety through its biennial conference and other forums, Safeskies is using the coming months to develop safety education events tailored to an industry emerging from an unprecedented shut-down.
